Looking for the perfect Valentine’s Day Bulletin Board AND Math Center for Kindergarten or First Grade? Have your students work on number decomposition with this “Heart-Heart-Whole” (Part-Part-Whole) activity.

This activity includes heart number mats for numbers 0 to 20, broken heart pieces for numbers 0 to 20, teacher tips for prep, a lesson plan, student worksheet choices to record work, PLUS a bonus bulletin board craft and lettering.

Students match broken heart number pieces, find the sum, and place the pieces onto the corresponding number mat. They may record their findings on the worksheet.

All pages are in black and white to save you from having to use your colored ink! I like to print the heart number mats onto one color and the broken heart pieces onto another color card stock.
