March Family Homework has just been posted, and you’re in luck!  In this post, I’ll give you all the details about family homework and the newest addition to the growing collection.

What is Family Homework?

If you’re new around here, let me tell you about how family homework has been a total game changer for me in the classroom.  At the beginning of every month, I send home a fun family project that my students complete at home with their grownups.  When the kids bring it back, I have an instant bulletin board for the month!  It’s truly a win-win for everyone.  My students and their families enjoy spending time together working on the project, and I love putting the bulletin board together in minutes without the mess and stress.

March Family Homework

This month’s family homework theme is “Lucky to Be Me!”  Here’s how it works.  You’ll print out the parent letter explaining the directions.  Staple one of the four-leaf clover templates to the letter.  Students will complete the four sentences about themselves, write their names, and cut out the clovers.  As the kids return their clovers, I allow them to share with their classmates.

St. Patrick’s Day Bulletin Board

Once all the kids have had a chance to share, display their completed four-leaf clovers with the included bulletin board decor.  This package includes “Lucky to Be Me” bulletin board letters in green sparkle.  There’s also a black and white version that you can print onto colored paper.  Bulletin board borders and accents are included as well to create the perfect St. Patrick’s Day display.

Lucky to Be Me Class Book

Creating class books is another one of my favorite things to do as a kindergarten teacher.  Once you take down your bulletin board, mount the four-leaf clovers onto white or green paper.  Place the pages into sheet protectors and then into a binder.  Place the “Lucky to be Me” cover in the binder window.  Keep this class book in your classroom library for your students to read again and again!
