St. Patrick’s Day Ideas for Kindergarten, 1st, or 2nd Grade
Are you looking for St. Patrick’s Day Ideas for Kindergarten, first grade, or second grade? If so, you’ve come to the right place! In this post, I’ll share my favorite activities that I have used in my own classroom to integrate St. Patrick’s Day into the curriculum.
All the resources discussed in this post are included in my St. Patrick’s Day MEGA Bundle! Let’s dive into the components of all the leprechaun and rainbow goodness that this holiday bundle includes…
1. St. Patrick’s Day Rainbow and Pot of Gold Bundle
This package includes all you see in the preview photo: Pot of Gold Template Choices, Cloud Template Choices, Gold Coins, Rainbow Template (color, paint, or dot art), Blank Writing templates and writing prompts. Simply print and go!
Teacher Tip: I use t-pins to hang these onto my boards as shown and hang them so that the rainbow pops out giving a 3-D effect. This board turned out so colorful, and it just makes me happy looking at it!
2. How to Catch a Leprechaun Bulletin Board Bundle!
These St. Patrick’s Day How to Catch a Leprechaun Writing Flip Books are a great way to introduce sequence and procedural writing in kindergarten or first grade!
The St. Patrick’s Day Writing Packet includes:
2 graphic organizers, choice of 3 covers, choice of primary or regular lined paper formats, and BONUS Leprechaun Adjectives Page!
3. Shamrock Writing
I also use these NO PREP Shamrock Writing Templates as a writing lesson during the week of St. Patrick’s Day.
Six differentiated writing templates are included. I print these onto green card stock and have students complete the prompt and cut out the shamrock. I hang these on the windows in my room.
4. St. Patrick’s Day Writing Prompts
Writing Workshop for the week of St. Patrick’s Day is complete with this writing prompt package that includes 8 sentence starter writing prompts in 2 formats. Use the included journal cover and combine pages into a book, or use the pages as individual sheets for a writing center, morning work, or writing workshop! Perfect for beginner writers in kindergarten and first grade.
5. St. Patrick’s Day Literature Selections
I like to tie in the literature using St. Patrick’s Day Books along with the lessons above. For the rainbow and pot of gold activity, The Leprechaun’s Gold is a great, inexpensive book to add to your collection.
Prior to creating the Trapped Leprechaun Bulletin Board, I read aloud How to Catch a Leprechaun.
6. Leprechaun Traps
This FREEBIE ties in perfectly with the sequence writing mentioned earlier. These traps are simply PRINT AND GO! My kinders LOVE creating these every year, and yours will too!
