After taking a year-long maternity leave last year, I wanted to give my classroom a makeover on a budget! I had been following Melanie @SchoolGirlStyle on Instagram for some time. If you don’t follow her, you should! Her posts inspired me to try the Twinkle, Twinkle, You’re a Star Collection by School Girl Style to go with my “Blacks and Brights” theme that I had envisioned.
My Blacks and Brights Rainbow Classroom Makeover
The Backgrounds
First, I purchased solid black fabric as well as black and white polka dots for my bulletin board backgrounds. I prefer using fabric as opposed to paper because it lasts so much longer. It is definitely worth the investment!
The Borders
Next on the list was choosing borders. I decided on School Girl Style’s Rainbow Dot Borders and Rainbow Stripe Borders. They work perfectly together while giving the room a colorful and cohesive look.
The Birthday Board
One of the first boards I hung was the Twinkle, Twinkle You’re A Star Birthday Bulletin Board Set seen below. I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. I’ve received so many compliments on this board. It looks AMAZING!
Follow Your Dreams
I displayed this Follow Your Dreams Bulletin Board Set in the hallway outside my classroom. It was perfect for Meet the Teacher Night. After I take this down to hang student work in its place, I am thinking of moving it inside my classroom to display above my bulletin boards. I think this is the perfect inspirational message to have on the walls year-round!
