Step Into My Classroom…

If you love a good classroom makeover, you’ve come to the right place!  I am so excited to partner with Carson Dellosa Education for this unique 2021-2022 Classroom Reveal.  In the past, I have always chosen one theme or collection to style my room.  I had to move classrooms again this summer, and I was having the hardest time choosing a theme.  Carson Dellosa Education and Schoolgirl Style have so many beautiful options that it can make it hard to decide!  I had an idea as I was browsing the Carson Dellosa website.  Instead of going with just one collection, I could mix and match my favorite décor pieces to create a “Makeover Mix.”   I absolutely love the results, and I hope you do too!

Before my Kindergarten Classroom Makeover

Every good makeover begins with a before picture.  This year, I am returning to my previous classroom after having to move last school year.  Walking into an empty, undecorated room feels nothing short of overwhelming.   In fact the first day I stepped foot in this room, I dropped some things off and left.  There is SO much to do that you feel like you don’t even know where to begin!

As much as I didn’t want to give up my last week of summer vacation, I knew I would feel behind before I even started the school year if I didn’t have my room in order.  I began working on the room the week before our first day of school and did a little bit each day.  I stopped at noon to enjoy the last days of summer with my own kids.

Backgrounds and Borders

Putting up the backgrounds and borders is always first on my list.  I used black fabric that I already had on all of my boards.  The Schoolgirl Style black and white scalloped borders created the perfect frame for my large board in the front of my room.  I added pops of color with rainbow scalloped borders and rainbow pom pom borders.

Classroom Makeover Décor

Once you have your backgrounds and borders in place, it’s time for the fun part – adding the décor!  I decided to go back to my rainbow roots incorporating bright and colorful accents with hints of black and white throughout the room.   I used bulletin board sets from Carson Dellosa Education including the new Kind Vibes Collection.  I also included elements from Schoolgirl Style’s Hello Sunshine and Black, White, & Stylish Brights collections.  Take a look at some of my favorite spots around the room…

The Alphabet

After posting a few pictures of this alphabet on my Instagram, my inbox was flooded with DMs asking where to find it.  This Photographic Alphabet by Carson Dellosa Education is aesthetically pleasing AND purposeful.  It provides my students with the perfect visual cues for letter sound correspondence while instantly adding color to the room.

The Birthday Board and Calendar

Every primary classroom needs a birthday set and calendar.  Here, I used Schoolgirl Style’s Hello Sunshine Birthday Bulletin Board and the Hello Sunshine Calendar.  The doodle hearts in the photograph are from the Kind Vibes Collection by Carson Dellosa Education.

Adding all the Kind Vibes

Have you seen the Kind Vibes Collection by Carson Dellosa yet?  I love everything about it – the bright colors, the instant bulletin board sets, and, most of all, the message of spreading kindness.

Kind Vibes in the Library

Welcome to my new favorite spot in my classroom.   A special thanks goes out to my Dad for making this Pinterest vision a reality.  The shelves are actually rain gutters, and the total cost was under $30!  I like how the shelves display the books so that my students can see all the choices.  The Kindness is the New Cool bulletin board set along with the Jumbo Doodle Hearts were just what I needed to complete this Book Nook.  My students are loving this inviting space so much!

Open Hearts and Open Minds

I displayed The Open Hearts, Open Minds bulletin board set by Carson Dellosa on one of my mini-bulletin boards.  This set coordinates perfectly with the kindness message while promoting diversity at the same time.

Math Center

To create my Math Center, I used blank notepads from the Black, White, & Stylish Brights jobs set.  I printed the “Math Center” text onto full sheet clear shipping labels.  Then, you just peel and stick the label right onto the notepad.  The Carson Dellosa Math Strategies Posters were exactly what I was looking for!  The strategies shown on the posters are perfectly aligned with our math standards.

Writing Center

The last stop on this tour is my Writing Center.  The notepads are from the Black, White, & Stylish Brights collection by Schoolgirl Style, and the I Can Write set is by Carson Dellosa.  This is a space for students to visit to work on writing when they are “early finishers.”
