Ready or not, Back-to-School season is here! Teachers everywhere are busy setting up their classrooms, which can feel overwhelming—especially for new teachers or teachers switching rooms. In this post, I’m sharing my top tips for classroom setup with Really Good Stuff products that help keep both me and my students organized all year long.

Plastic Storage Tubs and Bins
Really Good Stuff has been my go-to for plastic storage for years—and for good reason. I still use some of the same storage pieces I bought 14 years ago when I switched buildings! While other brands may offer cheaper alternatives, Really Good Stuff storage is an investment that will last. It is well-made, durable, and comes in a variety of sizes to fit all of your teaching and organizational needs. Take a look at some of my favorite plastic storage pieces…

I reorganized this area in the back of my room using the Really Good Stuff All Purpose Bins and Picture Book Bins both from the Neon Pop Collection. I like to keep it bright in Kindergarten! However, you can choose from a wide-range of colors available to match any classroom decor.

The Neon Pop Picture Bins are perfect for storing all of our fine motor activities. I prefer to organize the materials by color. For example, I place the building materials in pink bins and math materials in the blue.

The picture book bins also come with dividers you can insert to sort your materials. Below, I used the peach Picture Books Bins and Chapter Book Bins with the plastic dividers to organize the books in our classroom library.

Storage Baskets
In addition to the book bins, baskets are another alternative for organizing your materials.

Book Organization

I added this 5 Shelf Wooden Book Display to my classroom a few years ago. I keep this in the front of my classroom, and I use it to hold the books from our reading curriculum.
Clipboard Storage

It was time to finally retire the wooden clipboards I was using since I started teaching 21 years ago. No matter how hard I tried to keep our clipboards organized, I never found an effective solution- until now! This Double Clipboard Stand is a dream come true.
Paper Organization

This Lightweight Construction Paper with Organizer is another teacher must-have. We do a ton of art projects in Kindergarten. I love how this keeps all of the paper organized by color so I can grab and go!
Art Supplies

If your students love painting as much as mine do, this Colorations Simply Washable Tempera Paint Set is perfect to have on hand. In fact, I’ll be using this paint for handprint craft we are doing the first week of school.

Stencils & Pencils

Fine motor skills are something we work on daily in Kindergarten. The Ticonderoga® My First Wood-Cased Pencils are designed with emerging writers in mind. Pair them with these Colorations Mindfulness Stencils, and you’ve got an instant fine motor center.
Magnetic Number Lines

Addition and subtraction are both concepts that I teach early on and throughout the entire year in Kindergarten. I am looking forward to trying out these Jumbo Magnetic Number Lines.
The Importance of Classroom Setup and Organization
As Benjamin Franklin put it: “For every minute spent organizing, an hour is earned.” Set up your classroom so that everything has a place, and teach your students that everything goes back in its place when we are finished doing or playing. Take the time during this Back-to-School season to organize all the things, and your future self will thank you.
