Have your students write about how they can “be the rainbow in someone else’s cloud!” This famous quote by Maya Angelou can be used to teach so many things including kindness, diversity, anti-racism, Black History Month, Women’s History Month, spring, character education, and more. The possibilities are endless! This bulletin board is perfect for any time of year. I like to save this one for my spring Open House!
Teacher Tip: As Black History Month lead into Women’s History Month, we did a research study on Maya Angelou. We discussed the “be the rainbow” quote and the meaning behind it. My students then came up with some great ideas on how they could be a rainbow to someone in need. This was one of their favorite writing lessons and art projects all year!

My kindergarten students really enjoyed this activity. You can pair it with any story about kindness. This display brightens up the entire room. I can’t wait for parents to see it at our Open House!
