Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Activities

I designed this lesson for the beginning of kindergarten when we are working on letters and writing our names.  This Chicka Chicka Boom Boom resource includes everything you see below – editable name templates, a class book cover, and bulletin board lettering.

After reading the story Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and dancing it out to the YouTube song, I do a directed coloring where I tell students what color to use and which area to color.  I teach them how to rainbow write their names using different colors.  Then, I display the pages as a bulletin board with the included lettering.

After I take it down, I place the sheets in page protectors in a binder.  I print the cover and place it in the clear binder window.  Then, I place the book in our classroom library for the kids to read all year!  They love reading the books we make!

This resource has been added to my GROWING BUNDLE of CLASS BOOKS.  My kindergarten students love creating class books more than anything.  It gives them a sense of ownership and pride because THEY are the authors and illustrators!  If you snag the bundle at the current price, you’ll receive updates for FREE when new books are added.  The price will go up each time a book is added.

Overall, I hope that this post has given you some inspiration for beginning of the year activities in Pre-K or Kindergarten!  I hope your year is off to a great start.
